Debora Terreiros is a contemporary photographer, whose work focuses on conceptual matters that she believes are personal to her. Her photographic vision can be derived from, but not limited to societal issues and notional ideas.

Debora’s project, ‘Pain in Beauty’ is examining the harsh effects
of the media on young women, regarding body image and the way we perceive ourselves. She aims to visually unravel the mental pain that comes with being insecure about herself due to the beauty standards that we are constantly exposed to in society. Debora explores this idea through self portraiture as body image has been a personal struggle for her, especially during her teenage years. Whilst Debora is aware that men can also struggle with their appearance and body image, she has decided to focus the topic around young women’s struggles with it, as there is an immense pressure on women to present themselves a certain way.
