Pippa Lear uses photography as the base, the beginning, the core to the collages she creates. ‘Revolution’ is an ongoing project exploring how those in the LGBTQIA+ community identify and express themselves in today’s society through the use of collage and photo manipulation. Revolution is an abstract exploration of queer representation. This project is based around an individual Pippa worked closely with who identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Revolution is an abstract project to reflect how gender and identity are abstract concepts and to show how there is no ‘right’ way to be or look.

Pippa Lear applies the mediums of collage and digital photo manipulation to express and explore people’s identities and to break down barriers of societal issues. She aims to create a narrative within her work and for the pieces to become a starting point for conversations. In her current ongoing project ‘revolution’, Pippa is exploring how those in the LGBTQIA+ community identify and express themselves through the use of collage. The array of textures and colours that are prominent features in her work allows the viewer to be entranced, inviting them to delve further into all aspects of the image. She aims for her images to create a need for the viewer to explore the message that she is conveying through her work. Every aspect placed within her colleges that she creates are ingrained with purpose and meaning. Her aim is to create a story within a single image and for them to flourish together as a series.
